King Kong

"It's
been a lot of fun, I haven't managed to crash the car into anything on
this wet day in [New Zealand] and I'm just about to [pull] up at Weta
to talk about the secret projects - ah, secret projects, we can't
discuss it - and the camera will have to be turned off in a second so
that we don't reveal things that should not be revealed at this point
in time. Have a great Comic-Con everybody and I hope you enjoy this
little preview of the King Kong Extended Cut. Thank you!"
Following
Jackson's introduction, Universal screened a short clip from the DVD.
The scene takes place on Skull Island, and follows Jack Driscoll
(Adrien Brody), Carl Denham (Jack Black) and the remainder of the crew
that goes ashore to rescue Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts) from the natives
(and Kong). The crew fashions makeshift rafts out of local foliage and
begins sailing on a river towards an unknown destination; Darrow's
screams offer a melancholy compass for their efforts. Before they
arrive on the other side of the river, however, a number of water-bound
creatures attack them from beneath the surface.
The first
creature knocks several of the crewmen into the water, while a second
attracts Denham's attention as it swims underneath his raft. Denham
grabs a machine gun and shoots at the beast, but his efforts do more
harm than good: he accidentally shoots apart the raft, which splinters
and sends its passengers splashing into the river. Driscoll, who is
carrying a heavy pack, quickly submerges and sinks to the bottom; ditto
another crew member, who is summarily eaten by a passing fish. When
Driscoll realizes that he is next on the menu, he begins running on the
riverbed towards the shore. In the meantime, Denham lands safely on
shore and inspects his cameras to assess the potential damage.
Driscoll
eventually makes it to shore, where Denham is feverishly filming the
carnage. He steps out of the water as the ship's cook, Lumpy (Andy
Serkis), acknowledges that Denham seems to be more interested in
filming than helping his fellow men fight back. The shot fades to black.
